What is going on with this persimmon?
The blank is about 1 1/2" square and about 12 " long. This first pic is one end as air dried for about three years. The second pic is the other end with about 1" cut off, exposing the inside of the blank.
I have another piece of air dried persimmon 3"x 8" x 3' that I got from another source six years back that has the same condition, although not quite as dramatic. Not evidence of any discoloration on the surface of the wood.
